I needed a garage door opener replaced. I called at about 1 pm on a Saturday and the job was done by 6 pm. I received fast and professional service by a friendly tech named Jorge. The price was rather high, however. I got a low-end 1/2 HP Genie (belt driven, one light) opener that sells for $140 at Walmart, and was charged $1080 for the job. That's $940 for installation. All existing wiring was reused from my old Craftsman opener. Precision gave me friendly, professional, and speedy service, but it came at a hefty price. Follow up: In 2 days, the opener failed to work. I called Precision and within a few hours, they efficiently sent another tech named Chad to check out what was wrong. He determined that the electronic Safe-T-Beam "eye" at the base of the door was defective, he replaced the hardware, relocated its position closer to the floor and got the opener working again. When he offered to adjust the tightness of the spring for the standard fee of about $90, I commented that the price of installation should include an adjustment like this, but he said it did not. I then asked if the current spring tension would damage the opener, and was told probably not, but it was up to me. So I declined. Bottom line: Although the price structure of this company is on the high end of things, you get prompt, professional service even when a problem develops. Final comment: I do think the adjustment of the spring (if it was needed for the proper working of the opener) should be included in the $940 install fee.
